The Golden Arches Saloon and Casino, where wasteland cowboys call home.

History

Wappoo was built up overtime by traders and mercenaries looking for a place to set up shop outside of the influence of Battery City. The town is located off the Wappoo Creek where the Maybank Highway meets Folly Road. Over time the combination of lax law enforcement and openness to gambling led the town to a prosperous trade town for those willing to carry a gun and use it.

Locations

Golden Arches Saloon and Casino

The Golden Arches is a combination of an entire block of buildings that have been repurposed to a casino, hotel, and saloon. The business is owned by Skip Williams who manages the day-to-day operations.

The Lobby

Built from the ruins of a MacDoyle's, the lobby serves as a security checkpoint and weapons storage for the casino. Visitors are asked to check their guns in at the counter before being allowed further. Guests weapons are stored in individual secure lockers in the former kitchen, and the reputation of Chief Security Officer, Maximo Sherman, is not one of a thief.

Staff
  • Maximo Sherman: Chief Security Officer, gruff old military type
  • Dusty Olsen: Security Guard and potential serial killer
  • Monty Todd: Security Guard who handles visual and physical pat-downs
  • Chadwick Gould: Security Guard whose lack of intelligence is made up for with his handiness with a shotgun

Two Pump Bar and Grille

Next to the lobby and built from the ruins of a gas station is the Two Pump Bar and Griller. Outdoor dining is offered under the large awning where pumps used to stand, bar seating is available at the counter of the former convenience store, and a kitchen has been built into the former storage and staff break rooms.

Two-Pump is known for serving brahmin steak and Wappoo Wine, and Head Chef Pablo Simpson doesn't plan on changing that any time soon.

Staff
  • Pablo Simpson: Head Chef with a short temper and a penchant for throwing things
  • Alexandra Reed: Server who manages the outdoor dining
  • Enoch Cooley: Bartender and shoulder to cry on for many an unlucky gambler
  • Edward: Line Cook Mr. Handy and focus of Pablo's aggression
  • Eloy Rivera: Dish Washer whose happy to keep his head down and stay busy

Golden Arches Hotel

Lucky for Skip Williams, the roadside motel that is now the Golden Arches hotel was relatively untouched by the washout. The bottom floor was mostly the lobby which remains, and the indoor pool that has been converted into water reservoir for the hotel. The area outside the hotel has been converted into a tarberry farm with a junk barreling workshop in the corner. The hotel has three floors in total, and the top two floors are filled with rooms for rent.

The hotel is managed by Hospitality Manager, Janell Sampson.

Staff
  • Janell Sampson: Hospitality Manager whose charming disposition helps her offer guests the best of experiences
  • Marilyn Walters: Front Desk Attendant with a bit of a snobbish attitude
  • Sonja Schroeder: House Keeper who is relentlessly positive considering the messes she has seen
  • Kirby Harmon: Laundry Attendant who takes cleanliness a bit too seriously
  • Shaun Dalton: Maintenance Technician known for his ability to chew your ear off both metaphorically and literally

Dooley's Pawn Shop

Ran by Patrick Dooley, a high-end junk vendor who has crippling alcoholism and maybe narcolepsy.

Propain

Ran by gun owner and repairman Clinton Valdez. He's a smooth talker and a total gun nut. Loves to tinker with mods.

Charleston Crab House

Former boathouse style bar that has been turned into the premiere Mirelurk meat and meal restaurant in the Charleston area. Unlike the Golden Arches it does not restrict weapons, and allows gambling at the tables but does not offer the games themselves.

Staff

  • Old Zachariah Anderson: owner, chef, and dangerous with a knife and frying pan.
  • Kara Ball: younger host and waitress.
  • Mallory Pollard: older hostess and waitress, smokes like a chimney and dates line cook Rodrigo Parker
  • Rodrigo Parker: line cook, decent with a gun and dates waitress Mallory Pollard
  • Margret Walton: youngest hostess and waitress, sassy, independent, and related to the Waltons at Riverside Ranch

Rebuilders Orphanage

Headed by Brianna Parker, the orphanage is known in the area as a well-funded haven for children who have been forced to survive in the wasteland alone. Children at the orphanage are well taken care of, and funds are always available through generous contributions from the businesses in town who are happy to keep them off the streets (and less of a menace.)

The Kids

  • Johnny Ramos: A rakish young man and leader of his group of rag-tag troublemakers
  • Austin Mcintyre: A bully who loves to pickpocket and shoplift
  • Boyce Cross: A gangling mess of limbs who is an ace at throwing stones

Notable People

A town like Wappoo has a tendency to attract interesting characters, especially those looking to make some money.

Skip Williams

Before the war Skip Williams used to own an arcade outside of Charleston. He happened to be in his workshop when the bombs dropped. Retreating to his basement with the supplies he had, he managed to live through the washout; however, radioactive ground water began leaking into his basement and before long Skip was ghoulified.

After years of surviving in the wasteland, his knowledge of arcade console repair gave him the ability to restore the video poker machines that make up the Golden Arches Casino.

Sheriff Numbers Mahoney

Numbers earned his name by running a lottery in town. The lottery was popular and its popularity led to him being elected as town sheriff. Numbers is the closest thing to the law Wappoo has, and his general disposition is that it is best for all parties to sort out any disagreements themselves. As long as the businesses in town are well protected, no one has any complaints about his performance.
