Whispering Palms

The Sea Cabin Villas are positioned right in the heart of Isle of Palms. Every room is located just steps from a private beach access, private fishing pier, shopping, dining, and entertainment. Most units provide a breathtaking panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean, and the one-of-a-kind Carolina sunset views from the balcony of a Sea Cabin is a must for all visitors. These popular, fully furnished vacation retreats can sleep up to four people.

History

Supposedly the name of the settlement came from some business documents from a rental office in the former vacation homes. Regardless, Whispering Palms lives up to its name. It's a quiet settlement created from the ruins of a small condo complex consisting of three buildings that form a semi-circle with the coast. The arrangement makes the area defensible, and the ocean provides plenty of food for the fishing economy here.

The fisherman of Whispering Palms are known for fishing in the Atlantic ocean, and are some of the few fishing communities that seek out spineys to cook and trade with other settlements.

Whispering Palms is a small and secluded settlement, and those passing through will most likely meet a few of the more well-known citizens.

Sheriff Arturo Marquez

Sheriff Marquez is a stoic lawman. He doesn't have much tolerance for those who break the law, and is quick to sentence a criminal to exile. The people of Whispering Palms consider him fair, but avoid conflicts with him as to draw his ire, lest he draws his gun.

Ol' Orville

Not many can catch a spiney like ol' Orville, and most haven't been stuck by as many of them either. If you want to know a good lure and fine rod to tame the beast, ol' Orville is your man. Just be prepared to pay the price for his knowledge in booze and patience. He has a reputation for chewing the ear off even the friendliest of fisherman.

Locations

Whispering Palms is a small settlement split into three main buildings, a courtyard, and a dock.

South Wing

The southernmost building, mostly just used for housing.

North Wing

The northernmost building, it's proximity to the dock has led it to become the main storage area for supplies and fishing gear.

Central Wing

The center building, the sheriff's office/apartment is here as well as the generators.

Courtyard

The courtyard serves as the marketplace for the local fisherman, and the pre-war pool is used as a fresh water reservoir.

Docks

The docks are central to the settlement's economy, and thus all fishermen in town contribute to the upkeep and maintenance. Some fishermen fish directly off the docks, others store their boats here to fish in the ocean.
