Island Plaza

Island Plaza is a small settlement settled between Sumter and Charleston Executive Airport on Folly Road. It serves as a travel stop between Sumter and Westside, and is a strategic outpost for the USAF now that the CSS has taken over the Charleston Executive Airport. The town is occupied by USAF troops.

History

Island Plaza was built from the ruins of a strip mall and a small sub-division behind it. Early settlers found a great source for scavenging with a defensible area to set up homes. As trade along Folly Road increased the town began to prosper, and eventually became the major travel stop along Folly Road offering safety to travelers behind their fortifications.

As tensions began to rise between the USAF and the CSS, the town became a strategic location for moving supplies through James Island. It wasn't long before the town was annexed into the USAF.

Notable People

With the USAF occupation there are well known locals and USAF officers.

Mayor Miranda Locksey

Miranda Locksey manages Island Plaza during the USAF occupation. With defensive responsibilities taken away from her, she now dedicates herself entirely to civic duties. She fights to eek every scrap out of the USAF supplies requisitioned for the outpost.

Jane Tubbins

Jane Tubbins runs the local inn and tavern, the Lantern Light, with her long-time boyfriend Dante Mills. The Lantern Light was well-known as being a comfortable and affordable rest stop for travelers on Folly Road, but now serves as the local bar for off-duty soldiers and weary locals.

The Lantern Light

The Lantern Light is a huge diner and bar built into the remains of the Island Plaza Stores on the east end of town. Jane Tubbins had the walls to the next storefront in the mall knocked down and turned into a rows of rooms for rent for travelers. It was well known for having tasty and cheap baked clams and clean beds.

Dante Mills

Dante Mills lives and works at the Lantern Light with his long-time girlfriend Jane Tubbins. He used to run his own gun shop in town before the USAF occupation, so now he deals with dealing non-requisitioned supplies to soldiers.

Major Eduardo "Eddy" Thatch

Maj. Eddy Thatch is stationed at and commands the USAF occupying Island Plaza.

Locations

Island Plaza is split into two major areas, the ruins of a small sub-division and a strip mall.

Island Plaza Homes

Separated from Folly Road by the Island Plaza Stores is the ruins of a small sub-division where the locals of Island Plaza made their home. Presently most of the old ruins not owned by locals have been turned into housing for USAF soldiers and officers.

Island Plaza Stores

Between the Island Plaza Homes and Folly Road is the remains of a strip mall where the Lantern Light is located alongside many empty store fronts. Most stores closed after the USAF occupation and their conflict with the CSS ground trade to a halt in the area. Now many of the empty storefronts serve as storage and command facilities for the USAF.
